Standard Session (Family, Baby, Large family, 1st Birthday Cake Smash etc)
Sessions usually last between 1-2 hours and can be done in my home studio or an outdoor location. For locations outside the Chilliwack area a travel fee of $25-$35 will apply.
Maternity photos are a wonderful way to remember such an amazing time in a woman's life and her family's. I don't know about you but I would have loved to have seen some pictures of my mom while she was expecting but it just wasn't done back then. Well times have changed, celebrate and show off that tummy, come just you or bring Dad and siblings along! Maternity photos are best done between 32-36 weeks, your tummy is not too small and not too big at this point. We will do a number of poses, which will include some on the floor, please tell me if you are having any pain anywhere and I will be sure to avoid uncomfortable poses. Feel free to bring a couple different outfits, to best show off your bump a snug fitting solid colour tank or T- shirt aswell as jeans are best, we can show as much or as little as you are comfortable with. I also have selection of outfits for you to wear. Many women are more comfortable in the studio for maternity photos but an outdoor shoot would be fabulous as well, perhaps on a beach, up to you! While at your Maternity session it's a good idea to book tentatively your newborn session, that way I can be sure to keep a few dates before and after your due date open for when baby arrives.
Newborn sessions are best done in the 1st 10-14 days of life while they are still sleepy and squishy ;) The session can take anywhere from 2-3 hours, this allows for feeding, changing, and waiting for baby to get into a deep sleep to get those sweet sleepy poses. It is best to have baby without clothes or just a cute onesie, clothes on newborns can distract, bunch up and cover up that sweet face. I use a small space heater to keep bare babies warm, this also helps them fall asleep. You are encouraged to bring along any item with special meaning, a blanket or outfit and we will incorporate it in a photo. Also if you are passionate about something in your life, playing guitar, riding, a sport or you are a firefighter or police bring something along that signifies that passion or occupation and we will incorporate it into a shot with your newborn aswell!
*Firefighters will need to thoroughly clean or borrow untreated equipment
Tips for what to wear for your photos:
Choose clothes you are comfortable in, your photos should reflect who you are. Pick one color and then two or three coordinating colors to go with it for everyone else included in the photos. Avoid loud patterns or large logos or words on an outfit for a timeless look. It’s a good idea to wear clean shoes as they may be included in a full length shot, otherwise bare feet are always cute!
